Jozi’s trendiest bookshop

We are an independent bookshop focusing on African Literature based in Melville, Johannesburg. We have the finest collection of stories as told by Africans, African-Americans, Africans in the Diaspora and of course our local authors.

Our Story

Book Circle Capital was founded by Loyiso Langeni in 2016. He had a burning desire to create a space where African stories can be celebrated and curated. Growing up, books were his escape from the confines of his small town of Britstown in the Northern Cape.

Together with his wife and co-owner Sewela Langeni, the pair is passionate about reading and making books about South Africa and the rest of the continent accessible to ordinary people.

What We Do

We provide a space to experience some of the best stories about our country, the continent and its people. We host monthly book events for adults and children.

We believe in sharing our stories as a way to preserve and promote our heritage. We are also passionate about engendering a reading culture particularly among South African children and youth.

BOOK CIRCLE CAPITAL’S FIRST KIDDIES BOOK READING

On Saturday 7 July 2018, Book Circle Capital hosted their first-ever kid’s reading with Refiloe Moahlodi the author of How many ways can you say hello and Tallula. Parents and children braved the crispy Johannesburg morning to come and hear a captivating story about South Africa’s diverse and beautiful languages. After the reading, the children enjoyed craft activities related to the story. Books and reading are fun!
